First off the Lead compared to the supporting cast is outshone. It assumes you know a bit about early 1780's history but not too much. The set is too narrow, never opens up. Thinking of it as a movie it was always going to be tricky to transform. not a word of dialogue makes it difficult to absorb one song before the next hits you you.
No I'll be passing on this one, its not that I'm stuck and think Pal Joey was the highest the format could go. This just didn't do it for me.

When the British King became the "clown" in this musical, when the actor of Aaron Burr was also the "narrator" of this show, when the congress debate became a rap battle, when the death was prolonged by Montage, I knew it was a unique show.
But more importantly, it taught me that pain is stronger than happiness, and loss is more touching than success.
It could have described the success in Yorktown or the rule that Hamilton had set. However, they were not as touching as the moment when Burr and Hamilton had disagreement, as the moment when Angelica gave up and let her sister married Hamilton, as the moment when Eliza was disappointed to Hamilton, or as the moment when she forgave him, as all of those painful, hurtful moments.
Who lives? Who dies? Who tells the story?
Alexander Hamilton, should have been written in those history books. But "Hamilton" cut those books with a knife, and the blood came out of it. That is the truest blood, and the deepest pain.

Im 45 minutes in did they go through Hamiltons roll in forming the United States of America without mentioning slavery and its place in building the country once. Im so glad this full episode is on here. The 26 year old me watched the musical on Disney Plus... googling my way through some songs cause I was just so lost at this history stuff... this made me understand the musical narrative more and my gosh...
